The following is a guide to using our fast set flexible adhesive and also some information about the product itself:
Granfix Fast set flexible Polymer modified cement based adhesive can be used for fixing tiles to a variety of substrates.
This product sets within 40 minutes (depending on substrate) and can accept light foot traffic in 3 hours at 20ºC.
This cement based adhesive is suitable for fixing a variety of floor and wall tiles such as ceramics, slate, quarries, porcelain, vitrified, semi vitrified, limestone, terrazzo and mosaics to a variety of surfaces without an admix.
When set, the adhesive is water resistant and is suitable for use in swimming pools.
The product can be used between 3mm and 6mm bed thickness with up to 12mm in uneven areas. We reccomend using a Solid bed method for external areas..
PREPARATION:
Before starting ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles and the adhesive.
Remove all loose dust, dirt, oil, grease and other substances likely to affect adhesion.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING:
On concrete floors, the heating element should be embedded in a layer of adhesive and allowed to set prior to fixing tiles, then care should be taken when installing
TILE FIXING:
Add 4 Parts Fast Set Flexible to 1 Part cold clean tap water by weight in a clean mixing vessel. Mix to a smooth creamy consistency either by hand or using a slow mechanical mixing paddle.
Only Mix sufficient adhesive that can be used within 40 mins.
Any adhesive that has started to set must be discarded straight away.
Apply adhesive to the floor using a notched trowel such that a continuous bed of adhesive between 3mm and 6mm is achieved when tiles are applied.
Adhesive should also be applied to the back of deep studded tiles to cover the studs. Ensure the adhesive is still moist when tiles are pressed into place.
Check there is good transfer of adhesive onto the back of the tile. Clean excess adhesive from the tiles and joints as soon as possible as set adhesive will be difficult to remove later. Always clean all tools after use.
